Art
Show
Ranching in the
Heart of Nature
August 9 - August 20, 2011
For the past thirteen years, the Reserve has hosted a summer art
show that has grown in popularity as it has increased the kinds
of art exhibited. Beginning in 1997 as a photography exhibition,
the annual artistic showcase has featured oil, pastel, watercolor
and acrylic paintings, along with bronze
sculptures, paper collages, and an assortment of photographs in
as many styles and techniques as can be imagined.
Originally intended to present examples of the
Plateau’s esthetic qualities, the annual exhibit captures
moments on canvas, paper and even metal that documents a time,
experience, and memory of place. This year, the show will feature
art depictions of the rich ranching history on the Plateau and
the Reserve. Historical displays and artifacts illustrating the
ranching influence will also be provided by the Vail Ranch Restoration
Association.
